Students have worked really hard during our last unit. It was a long process. First they chose which habitat they would like to know more about and formed groups. Next they browsed books and internet to find information about the habitat. They wrote where it is, how does it look like, which animals and plants live in that habitat, are there any endangered animals, how does the food chain look like and more. After that they thought of their own questions they wanted to know and found answers to these questions as well. Finally they thought what to do if someone tries to destroy or change the habitat.
Then they presented the habitats to others. They showed it to Reception and Grade 2 students. They showed that they have grown a lot as inquirers.

Graphs
Grade 1 students created graphs. They worked in groups, decided what is that question that they would ask others, which kind of graph they would use to present the data that they collected and did it. They showed a lot of enthusiasm asking other students and teachers what is their favorite color, animal, food or do they have a pet.
You can see the graphs on the wall next to our classroom. Come and take a look and your child can explain to you if you have questions.

Once upon a time...
I start the story and you continue. Once upon a time there lived a fish. His name was.....
Students continued the story a friend has started. In a way it is easier then writing your own story because you follow the storyline that someone has created. In the other hand maybe you want to write about something else but you must stick with that theme. Some stories are finished some are not so we will continue next week.
Venn diagrams
What is a Venn diagram? Why do we need it? How can we use it? These were our questions. We used Venn diagram to present the information about 2 habitats. What are the similarities and differences between 2 habitats?
Wonder Table
Thank you for bringing in so many different objects from various habitats. Students had many questions which lead us to discussions. Keep your eyes open to the wonders of the nature whenever you are!
Creating Habitats
Here you can see how students find information about the habitat that they chose. They think how to make a diorama that looks like the real habitat with animals and plants in it. They started to work on this task with great enthusiasm and at the end of the day one student said,``Making a habitat was fun. It was like play.``

For Mothers!
I'm
your little flower, Mom.
Please help me grow and bloom:
Take the weeds but leave the roots
And give me lots of room.
Mom, you are my gardener,
My sunshine and my rain.
Too much will make me wither.
With enough, I'll bloom again.
I am your little flower, Mom.
I'm different from the rest:
Don't pick me Mom, just help me grow
To be my very best.
